GTS Data and Innovation Manager

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
GTS – Global Technical Services – is the SW department responsible for technical support to SW licensed growers around the world. The GTS provides help to farmers around the world to exploit the full potential of SW varieties and increase their yields and quality performance.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Manager will be in charge of:
– Managing technical data
– Managing Precision Agriculture projects
– Investigating the world of Ag Technologies, exploring possible value for SW and its licensees

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Global Technical Services
HOURS: Full time
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise global data collection procedures for GTS
-
Conduct complex analyses of the data and produce sophisticated, detailed reports

Provide GTS agronomists and other company departments with elaborated data analysis which will
facilitate decision processes

Initiate and manage Precision Agriculture projects within SW
-
Explore Ag Tech world to select technologies that can provide value and advantage to SW licensees.

Manage the possible trials and cooperation projects

Maintain consistent and productive relationships with entities and professionals who may contribute to our company’s success
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED

A degree in Agronomy or Agricultural Science (MS degree preferred), specialization in Precision Agriculture is a decisive advantage
-
Basic Knowledge of the plant’s main physiology processes, plant nutrition, soil characteristics, irrigation systems and other agronomic subjects

Familiar with the use of data, analysis tools and production of elaborated reports

Curiosity and passion for the use of new technologies in Agriculture

Outstanding verbal and non-verbal communicational skills in English

High flexibility and mobility, willingness to work during non-standard hours and on weekends/holidays if
necessary

Exceptional time management skills, with the skill to multi-task and prioritize tasks

High level of organizational ability, and the ability to seek and suggest improvements. High level of
problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily

Highly self-motivated, good reasoning abilities, sound judgment.

A high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with data management software such as (one or more) SQL, Cognos, Python, ArcGis or

Previous experience (> 3 years) in Precision Agriculture or similar role, such as farm data manager, or innovation manager
Experience and knowledge of Precision Viticulture
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- International Travel – between 40-80 days per year
- This position requires approximately 65% sitting, and 35% standing and walking. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee spends a lot of time at a desk. Equipment primarily used is a computer and phone. Visit to farms and fields may regularly occur
