At Sun World, we partner with leading exporters and marketers to distribute distinctive varieties of grapes and stonefruit with superior flavor and premium quality worldwide.

A leader in quality and innovation for 30 years, Sun World works hard to supply superior fruit. And, although we’re California-based, we don’t just stop there. We operate one of the world’s largest variety development programs, enabling customers to source Sun World fruit varieties from more than 20 marketers around the globe. And we are always working to extend our sphere of influence. Because creating the next superior product and offering it globally and with year-round continuity is part of what we do. Each and every day, with our international licensee network.

By building a network of like-minded nurseries, growers and marketers, our Licensing staff coordinates distribution of Sun World varieties so that quality remains high, production is limited, and FOB prices remain strong. 

The Center works closely with Sun World's extensive licensing staff that includes international offices located in Chile, Italy, South Africa, Australia and Mexico, as well as representatives in Israel, Peru and Brazil. The variety department coordinates patenting, licensing, and managed production of over 130 commercial and experimental Sun World fruit varieties that are distributed to licensing partners in many of the world's key fruit producing regions.   Jesse Valcazar, Intellectual Property Manager, manages Sun World's Intellectual Property Portfolio - patents, trademarks, and licensing agreements.

Sun World's fruit varieties are produced under license on over 4500 acres (1821 ha) in California as well as over 18,000 acres (7300 ha) internationally. Licensing relationships have been established in the United States, Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, South Africa, Namibia, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Israel, New Zealand and Australia. In these countries, qualified nurseries and producers are licensed to propagate and produce proprietary plum, peach, nectarine, apricot and table grape cultivars.

Sun World has produced more than 60 patented commercial fruit varieties and holds over 250 plant patents in one dozen countries around the world.
