Sun World's advanced DNA Fingerprinting Program employs cutting edge DNA technology to fingerprint Sun World patented fruit cultivars and advanced selections.

In the past, DNA fingerprinting was relatively crude, often employing only a few markers. Advanced Fingerprinting today employs up to 50 markers, making it possible to distinguish even slight differences in DNA makeup and to quickly identify fruit varieties suspected of being grown or marketed without proper licensing.

DNA samples can be extracted from any plant material, including suspected fruit arriving on the marketplace. The sample is then compared with Sun World's library of DNA fingerprints to determine if the two samples are a match.
